Little Sophie Barwell is a picture of health.
But she was born with biliary atresia, where bile ducts are inflamed and damaged, causing scarring on the liver.
It is a lifelong condition and Sophie, aged one, may need a liver transplant in the future.
Her parents Richard and Lisa Barwell, of Avocet Way, Heybridge, are raising money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, which has supported them and funds medical research as there is still no cure for the condition.
Heybridge Pre-School is organising a cake sale for the foundation’s Big Yellow Friday fundraiser next month and a friend from London will run four marathons in four months.
