A primary school headteacher has been recognised for her hard work and enthusiasm.
Tracey Thornton, who has been in the post at Maldon Primary School for three years, came in the final three in the headteacher of the year category in an countywide awards ceremony.
Ms Thornton, who received a special recognition certificate in the first Essex Teaching Wards by Essex County Council.
Governers at Ormiston Rivers Academy, in Southminster Road, Burnham, were shortlisted for the governing body of the year award.
Paul Nye, chair of governers, picked up the special recognition award, with principal Joan Costello and governors Karen Harden, David Lenz and George Ruston.
