A dedicated 84-year-old woman has been awarded a 70-year bar to add to her Poppy Volunteer’s Long Service Medal.
Beryl Wareham, 84, of Rectory Road, Woodham Walter, has been collecting for the Poppy Appeal since 1943, when she was aged just 14.
When Mrs Wareham first started selling the poppies, there were only two tins for the village of Woodham Walter.
Over the years she has raised thousands of pounds for the Armed Forces.
