More than 900 defects on Maldon’s roads were outstanding in December, caused by bad weather - an increase of more than 600 in seven months.

Christopher Boruch, who works at George Tyres in Wantz Road, Maldon, said the amount of potholes had led to an increase in customers.

He said: “For us we are much busier because people are going through the potholes and are denting the alloys.

“The potholes are something that we can’t complain about."
