Buses still need to improve says Burnham passenger

Maldon and Burnham Standard: Alex Jennings Alex Jennings

A pensioner has criticised the state of buses serving the Burnham area.

Alex Jennings, 82, took the 31X First bus service from outside the Railway Hotel in Burnham to Chelmsford last Monday.

Mr Jennings, of Fernlea Road, Burnham, said there was no heating, it was late and there was "water that looked like it was scraped from the bottom of a pond" inside the window.

Progress on improvements to the 31X service will be discussed at the Dengie Hundred Bus Users Group meeting on Wednesday, February 12.

Vice-chairman Ursula Benjafield said: "We've not had loads of complaints about buses being late.

"There have been loads of mentions of buses not running, which we are in the process of investigating with First."
