A huge new supermarket, school and leisure space looks set to be included in a developer’s plans for 300 extra homes in Burnham.
Simon Butler-Finbow, project director for Burnham West, met Maldon district councillors and Burnham town councillors in a private meeting on Monday to discuss a new proposal to develop to the west of the town.
He gave them a look at the consortium’s latest draft blueprint, which now includes space for a large supermarket, as well as a new primary school, medical surgery and a bypass next to Maldon Road with a roundabout.
At the moment the drawings are in a speculative stage and so far no formal planning application has been submitted.
Last year a previous blueprint had allocated 450 homes but protestors had instead supported 180 homes west of Burnham, 90 homes to the north and 180 homes to the east - which are now allocated in Maldon District Council’s draft Local Development Plan.
