One worker died and 16 suffered major injuries during workplace incidents in the Maldon district in the last financial year.

The figures from the Health and Safety Executive for 2012/13 compare to 21 major injuries and no fatalities in 2011/12.

Across Essex, four people died and 558 were hurt in 2012/13.

High-risk industries include construction, agriculture, manufacturing, waste and recycling.
