This is the scene in Maldon’s High Street on one of the most popular shopping days of the year - Boxing Day.
Typically, hordes of shoppers flock to towns and cities the day after Christmas to grab a bargain, when many items have been reduced.
But only a handful of residents were spotted checking out what Maldon had to offer because the majority of shops remained closed until Saturday.
Duncan Kennedy, 25, who runs Void Bikeshop at the lower end of the High Street, was one of a small number of shops who opened on Boxing Day to take advantage of sales shoppers.
He described Maldon as “a ghost town” and ended up closing early.
