Each day in Essex, four to five children will be placed in foster care.
Among those giving these youngsters a loving and caring home are two mums from the Maldon district.
Corinne Jiggins from Mayland has fostered more than 300 children in 32 years, looking after them alongside her six children, two of whom she had adopted.
Mandy Potts, who has four children, has fostered disabled children over last 21 years and provided respite breaks.
The pair are among a number of long serving foster carers in the district.
