It's time to dig out those rowing boats and fancy dress costumes.
Seafarers will be burning off some of their Christmas calories with the traditional Maldon Little Ship Club sponsored row on New Year’s Day.
Competitors will set off from the Hythe Quay in Maldon at 11.30am and hope to beat the £9,000 raised last year towards a new RNLI lifeboat.
New this year is a separate 6km gig race and a stand up paddleboard class in the main rowing race.
Entry fees are £4 per boat and £1 per crew member.
Prizes will be awarded for categories including highest sponsorship, fastest men’s and ladies boats, best fancy dress and the cadet class trophy for under 15s.
Anyone who wants to compete can call John Rogers on 01621 853841 or email diana.rogers2@btinternet.com
