Asda in Tiptree will extend its opening hours
A village supermarket can open until midnight.
Asda in Church Road, Tiptree, won permission to open from 6am until midnight Monday to Saturday for a one year trial.
Sunday and bank holiday hours remain unchanged at 10am to 5pm.
Colchester Council’s planning committee approved the plans unanimously.
Concerns had been raised by residents over boy-racers using the car park when the store is closed.
Shop security staff will be tasked with preventing this when the store is open but quieter and Asda plans to install barriers blocking access when it is closed.
