A top turkey farmer has had 100 award-winning turkeys stolen just weeks before Christmas.
The live KellyBronze turkeys, worth a combined £10,000, were taken from a polytunnel in Roundbush Farm, in Burnham Road, Mundon, overnight between last Thursday and Friday.
Turkey feeders and agricultural machinery worth around £3,000 were also stolen.
Paul Kelly, managing director of Kelly Turkeys, based at Springate Farm, Danbury, visited the Mundon site on Friday and spotted that the fences were cut and the gates were pulled down.
He said: “We weren’t quite sure how many turkeys had been taken at the time because there were hundreds still there.
“Unfortunately they have had a lot of money off us."
