Bagpipers piped their way through a village to mark the reopening of its only pub.

Residents of Little Totham came out of their houses to watch musicians Alan and Christopher Bredin make their way to The Swan, in School Road, last Sunday for the first day of trading since the pub closed in June.

New landlord Phil Cornell, 41, who will live at the pub with wife Kirsten, 40, and sons William, nine, and Henry, seven, was delighted to see it full for the first time in months.

He said: “It was absolutely packed out, it was shoulder to shoulder.

“Everyone seemed really impressed. We have had new equipment put in and have fixed the central heating so we can bring it back to a working pub."
