Developers have submitted plans for 48 homes at a disused site that once housed a cannabis factory.
Bellway Homes, which held a public consultation in October, hopes to redevelop Bridge House in Hall Road, Heybridge.
It was previously occupied by printing company Bridge Communications until early 2010 and was then let short term until November that year, when police carried out a drugs raid.
They found 8,000 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £2million.
Bellway plans a mix of one, two and three bedroom houses and flats, 14 of them affordable.
