A cattery hopes to add kennels to take in dogs.

But the planing application for kennels to house board ten dogs at Ringdoves in Goldsands Road, Southminster, has raised concerns from parish councillors and environmental health officers.

A report by planning consultants Raymond Stemp Associates said they would be on the site's northern boundary, the furthest point away from the nearest home.

But Southminster Parish Council objected on the grounds there was a possibility of noise nuisance to neighbouring homes.

And Richard Farr, Maldon District Council's environmental health practitioner, was concerned about noise and waste water being discharged into a cesspool rather than a public sewer or a sewage treatment plant.

The district council has yet to make a final decision on the planning application.
