Voters have helped a school secure £3,000 towards a lift to help a disabled pupil get in and out of the library safely.
Alfie Gosling, six, needs up to three adults to carry his wheelchair into the demountable building at Maldon Primary School.
The disabled lift was one of four good causes in the Essex Coast area shortlisted for a grant from the Lloyds Bank Community Fund.
And thanks to a public vote, the school will now receive a cheque towards the expected total cost of about £9,000.
