Solar farm developers will make a fresh bid for planning permission.

Lightsource Renewable Energy wanted to install 43,769 panels on farmland off Beckingham Road, Great Totham.

But Maldon District Council’s planning and licensing committee voted against it last month.

Cairan Dillon, senior planner at Lightsource, said: “We are going to review our position and will definitely be moving forward with a revised application or an appeal.

“We will make a public announcement to the local community once we have decided our next course of action.”

Let them have their solar cells; excellent electricity. All they need to do is plant a decent hedge around them (but not blocking the cells).

WE need the electricity and the local jobs would be a great bonus.
