Former Rayleigh detective charged with failing to investigate rape allegation
A FORMER Essex Police detective has been charged with misconduct following allegations she failed to properly investigate an allegation of rape.
Hannah Notley, 30, who was a sexual offences trained detective constable at Rayleigh police station, was charged yesterday with the offence of misconduct in public office.
It followed an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission into allegations she failed to properly probe the alleged sex attack while she ran the case from July 2011 to February 2012.
It is alleged that she falsely informed her superiors and the victim that the CPS had decided to take no further action, when in fact the case had not been submitted to the CPS.
