Burnham: Carer writes to George Osborne defending the jobless
An infuriated carer has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer defending people who are unable to work.
Mum-of-three Caroline Clare, of The Leas, Burnham, became so incensed with George Osborne’s views on the jobless that she sent him a nine-page letter explaining her anger earlier this month.
The 50-year-old, who lives in a council house with partner Alastair Gent, 61, wanted to rally against the recent changes to the benefits system, which included tax breaks for working mothers.
Ms Clare receives £54 a week in carer’s allowance after her partner suffered a stroke in November, when she left her work as a support worker at Deansbrook Farm nursing home in Latchingdon to care for him.
