Maldon: Residents still mopping up after floods
3:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in News
Residents across the district are still dealing with the aftermath of last weekend’s floods.
Fred Bellamy, of Station Road, Burnham, said: “I’m still cleaning and drying stuff.
“The house smells dreadful but there were people worse off than us."
Purleigh was also hit badly, with some residents reported to have had to move out temporarily.
Justin Dighton, landlord of the Roundbush Pub said: “We were lucky. We had a foot of water throughout cafe and bars. It was higher outside.
“The fire brigade came and isolated our electric, but that's all they could do as there was nowhere to pump it.
“Luckily the water was cleanish that came in and once it had subsided outside it was a case of mopping and cleaning."
