Disgusted residents, who have taken the battle against dog mess into their own hands, have hailed their poop watch scheme a success.

People living in the Dengie are encouraged to use a Facebook page, Dengie Dog Poo Neighbourhood Watch, as a place to post names and photographs of lazy dog owners who fail to pick up after their pets.

Watch members are also posting warnings about which pavements have fresh dog mess on.
