Essex: Police spend money to save money
Essex Police will spend almost £600,000 working out plans to save £1.2million.
The force has to save £42.2million by 2015 following Government cuts.
About £32million savings have been found and another £10million identified.
But in the budget for 2013/14 more than £230,000 will be spent on helping the reform team to finish the job.
More than £356,000 will also be spent reviewing the blueprint in 2013/14.
This is despite the blueprint only coming into force in March 2012 and the last review and changes being implemented less than a month ago in January this year.
Police and crime commissioner Nick Alston has defended the decision to take more from the extremely depleted reserves at the same time as raising council tax.
