Maldon district: Planning report suggests more homes could be coming Maldon district: Planning report suggests more homes could be coming

Hundreds of residents have objected the delivery of 3,000 new homes to the district - but more could still be built.

More than 260 people are formally against the proposed development of 300 homes in areas around North Fambridge, according to an update on the Local Development Plan by Maldon District Council.

Some 215 people in Burnham also voiced their opposition against the plans for 450 homes to the land west of the town.

The 2,150 homes targeted for the south of Maldon and Heybridge also met with objections from 69 residents.

Maldon District Council, keen to reduce the need for large-scale infrastructure changes, intends to deliver only half the new housing the Government has recommended between 2014 and 2029 in an attempt to safeguard the district’s countryside.

However the 3,000 homes could be set to increase with more development potentially appearing around Maldon, Heybridge and Burnham, according to the planning report.
