Cutting vehicle crime has been highlighted as a priority for Maldon.

The town is suffering from one of the highest vehicle crime rates in Essex, with more thefts from cars or vehicle thefts in Maldon in January than in Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester.

As a result Maldon’s community safety partnership has picked it out as one of six policing priorities for the coming years.

The police and crime plan, put together by police and crime commissioner Nick Alston, sets out the areas of concern for each district in Essex.

In Maldon the partnership chose anti-social behaviour, problems associated with alcohol and drugs, reducing crime and reoffending, home burglaries, protecting vulnerable people and vehicle crime as the priorities among the 18 options.

About time too!
Yet when someone tried to steal my car - I was told as they did not gain entry to the car, and no damage was done - there was NO crime.
Even though he was on my driveway! my dog chased him away!!

I'd have thought that purse snatching from the elderly was more of a problem in Maldon. Isn't it about the scum that have been doing this for years were caught?
