Maldon: Two affordable retirement bungalows up for grabs

Two new affordable retirement bungalows are set to be built in Maldon.

Maldon District Council and Colne Housing Society are working together to provide the two properties in St Giles Crescent.

Work is due to begin in April on the two bedroom, semi-detached bungalows with completion of the properties by December.

Colne Housing Society will build and manage the homes which will be offered for affordable rent.

Priority will be given to people aged 65 and over, currently living in social housing in the district, who wish to down size and move to more suitable accommodation that meets their housing need.

Councillor Brenda Harker, chairman of the council’s Community Services Committee, said: “In response to the high demand for housing for elderly people, Maldon District Council welcomes the opportunity to work in partnership with Colne Housing Society to develop these two new bungalows.”

If you would like to be considered for one of these properties, complete an online housing application form at gatewaytohomechoice.org.uk.

To find out more about the properties please contact John Swords, Policy and Enabling Officer on 01621 876207 or email john.swords@maldon.gov.uk

How many over 65s are going to want to complete an online application? I suppose it they want a new home they will find a way! Building 2 bungalows doesn't sound much if there is such a high demand for housing for the elderly.
