Maldon district: DaRTing towards new era for buses Maldon district: DaRTing towards new era for buses

A special bus service in the Maldon district has given pensioners a new lease of life.

The Dengie DaRT dial and ride transport buses, which offer door-to-door service, have experienced phenominal success at a time when bus users in Burnham have voiced their anger at First buses.

Not only have they had to introduce more buses to cope with demand but are also working towards providing a network with trains in the region.

Jason Ambrose, operations manager at Arrows Taxis in Maldon, which operates the DaRT buses, said: “Currently we are in discussions with Greater Anglia, the rail operator, to provide a unique DaRT rail-header service, which will bring the population of Maldon and Heybridge back in touch with the railway.

“It’s something they haven’t had since 1965. It’s a big move.”
