Southminster: House fire update - one suffers burns and another suffers smoke inhalation

One man suffered smoke inhalation and another suffered burns after a blaze at a home in Southminster.

Fire crews from Burnham and South Woodham Ferrers attended the scene in West House Estate after a call at 1.49pm today.

They tackled a fire in the roof space, which they managed to extinguish by 2.44pm. 

Fire fighters then used a thermal image camera to check for any hotspots.

An ambulance was requested for the man suffering burns.

A fire and rescue service spokesman said: "The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.

"Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and the police will carry out an investigation."
