Bradwell: Village Post Office is saved

Post Office manager Steve Tachauer is thrilled it will not close
A village's community hub has been saved from closure.
A new funding arrangement has been agreed for Bradwell’s Post Office after Essex County Council funding, which has run the post office for three years, will run out in April.
Under the new contract the Post Office will be converted to a Post Office Local and its future is secure until December 2015.
However some services will be lost and the office will no longer be able to accept cheques for bills and payments or dispatch parcels to overseas addresses.
The change comes after residents in Bradwell decided against adding the village’s post office’s running cost to their council tax in a village referendum last year.
It was thought that the future of the post office could be under serious threat without residents’ backing and a closing date was due in two months.
