Maldon: Should growing number of hair salons get a cut?
Not another hairdressers!
This is what Maldon residents are shouting after another salon is set to appear in the High Street among the 12 already there.
The shop will appear at number 103 after shoe shop Buckles closed this month.
Heybridge resident Paul Devenish, 24, was outraged at the plans and branded the situation “ridiculous”.
The former Plume School pupil, who now works as a contractor for Transport for London, said: “We need shops to draw the public in, not a town of hair salons.
“To my knowledge I can count nine off the top of my head.
“Maldon District Council need to put a limit on a number of shop categories there our in our town.”

Why? Let the free market decide, they're paying the rent/costs. The ladies can get their hair done, go and have a coffee and cake in the coffee shop that's about to reopen, then hopefully have a wander around and spend up big in one of the other shops. Seems like a win win all round to me.

Employment opportunities, more attractive than an empty shop.
This is very positive news, why does the M & B try and paint a negative picture - lets welcome and support every business that wishes to invest in Maldon.

Good quip about 'top of my head' though!
