Burnham: Funds could light up town landmark
Burnham's iconic clock tower could be illuminated at night in the future.
The town councillors decided at last Wednesday’s town council meeting that thousands of pounds out of the council’s precept should go towards maintaining the clock tower.
Some £2,500 was donated to the clock tower fund, which aready has almost £2,500, in the hope to spruce up the town’s artefact.
More money will be allocated to the fund annually with the specific amount to be decided on at the town’s next budget meeting.
Councillor Jack Sheppard said: “It’s a fantastic symbol for the town and it needs maintaining.
“It is in pretty good shape at the moment but in five or ten years time it would require a lot of money spent on it."
