Essex: Overturned lorry closes part of A12
Police are still advising drivers to avoid the A12 northbound at Galleywood after a crash involving a lorry and Ford Focus this morning.
They estimate the northbound track will be closed for another couple of hours whilst the road is cleared.
One lane is open on the southbound track.
The collision just after 6.30am this morning resulted in the lorry driver being taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "On our arrival, the lorry driver was found trapped in the cab by his legs and the steering wheel.
"Paramedics and hazardous area response team operatives worked extremely hard to treat, stabilise and immobilise him before he was taken to Basildon Hospital for further care."
The overturned lorry has shed its load of bricks on the carriageway.
