Southminster: Burst water main sends water 20 feet high Southminster: Burst water main sends water 20 feet high

RESIDENTS were left astonished when a burst water pipe sent water gushing above their houses in Southminster.

The burst main, at the junction of King’s Road and Duke’s Avenue, sent the water around 20 feet in the air before running down the street today.

Ralph Hill, 84, of Duke’s Avenue, could not believe his eyes when he saw the water above people’s rooftops.

He said: “It’s been going since about 9am.

“At first it was just a little bubble jet in the road but by 10.30am, it was jetting about 20ft and water was running down Dukes Avenue into the cul-de-sac.

“The road is awful, it’s like a river."
