Maldon: Great-gran thanks good Samaritans for returning lost £300
11:00am Sunday 25th November 2012 in News By Emma Robinson
Mrs Hayes was shopping in Maldon's High Street when she lost her purse
A great-gran has had her faith in human nature restored after good Samaritans returned her lost purse containing £300.
Retired Jean Hayes, 70, of Giles Close, Maldon, lost her purse in Poundstretcher in Maldon’s High Street on Tuesday.
Thinking it had been stolen, she reported the theft at Maldon Police station.
But by the time she got home a note was on her door, saying her purse had been found and picked up.
Mrs Hayes said: “When I saw my purse wasn’t there, I was in such a terrible state.
“I was saving the £300 for Christmas but got it out to pay for a bed for my great-grandson, I was devestated.
“I was burgled last month and I was thinking of how horrible the world was when I saw the note.
“I cried my eyes out when I saw it.”
