Maldon: Thieves target fisherman's van

A grandfather is warning neighbours to be vigilant after an attempted van break in.

Would-be thieves attacked David Woodyard’s van in Wentworth Meadows, Maldon, between 9pm last Tuesday and 5.30am last Wednesday.

They broke the lock on the driver’s side door of the pale grey Ford Fiesta van while trying to get in.

Warehouse supervisor Mr Woodyard, 57, who is a freshwater fisherman, said:

“They were after fishing equipment because you could see it through the window.

“But it’s empty now.

“I have lived here 20 years and never had any trouble before, so this was a bit of a surprise.”

If you can help the police with their investigation, call 101.
