Chelmsford: Cyclist attacked after collision
Police have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist was assaulted following a collision with another rider in Chelmsford.
The incident happened at about 7.30pm yesterday after the cyclists crashed head-on in a subway that runs under Parkway into Central Park.
Both riders fell off their bikes and when one rider approached the other to ask if he was OK he was punched twice in the face.
Investigating officer Pc Jennie Burton said that the attacker was white, about 5ft 7in tall, well built and with short dark hair.
He was wearing a dark jacket and riding a mountain bike, possibly dark-coloured.
He was with another man who was also white, of skinnier build and with longer hair.
He was also riding a mountain bike.
Pc Burton said that a number of pedestrians were walking past at the time of the crash and assault and she appealed for any witnesses to call her at Chelmsford police station on 101.
