Maldon: MP leads questions in Savile scandal Maldon: MP leads questions in Savile scandal

Maldon's MP has led the questioning of the BBC's Director-General over the Jimmy Saville sex abuse scandal.

George Entwistle came under fire yesterday from MPs on the Commons culture committee, which is chaired by Mr Whittingdale.

Mr Entwistle told the committee: "There is no question, what Jimmy Savile did and the way the BBC behaved in the years, will raise questions of trust for the BBC.

“This is a gravely serious matter and one cannot look back on it with anything other than horror."

The BBC boss also told MPs the abuse carried out by Jimmy Savile has shown there "must have been a problem of culture at the BBC".
