Murderer will never be freed
MASS murderer Jeremy Bamber will die in prison.
Bamber, who was convicted in 1986 of murdering five members of his family, was told he will never be released after My Justice Tugendhat decided the crimes were so serious that life should mean life.
At London's High Court the judge reviewed the case before deciding to follow the recommendations of the then Home Secretary and Lord Chief Justice, Lord Lane, that Bamber should never be freed - rather than follow the recommendations of the trial judge who suggested a 25 year sentence.
The judge considered the victim impact statements from relatives of those who had died, the fact that Bamber continues to deny the murders - therefore not showing any remorse - and the exceptionally serious nature of the crimes before reaching his decision.
Bamber, who is now in his late 40s but was 24 at the time of the killings, is serving five life sentences for the murders of his adopted parents, sister and her six-year-old twin boys at Whitehouse Farm, Tolleshunt D'Arcy, on August 7, 1985.
The prosecution's case was that Bamber, who was living in Goldhanger at the time, went to the house and shot the twins - Nicholas and Daniel - in their beds, his sister Sheila and mother June in the main bedroom and father Nevill four times in the bedroom and then four times in the kitchen with a .22 semi-automatic rifle.
But Bamber has always maintained his innocence, blaming his model sister "Bambi" - who had a history of mental illness - for the killings.
He claims she killed them all before killing herself and his legal team are preparing for a possible third appeal.
Two previous appeals in 1989 and 2002 were rejected but campaigners are confident they can still overturn his conviction.
Bamber recently had a request to be downgraded to a category B prisoner refused and remains classed as a highly dangerous category A prisoner.

Bring back the death sentence, why should decent law abiding tax payers have to keep evil people like Bamber & Sutcliffe in relative comfort in maximum security prisons with TV’s, radios etc. Make them smash rocks, till they’ve turned to dust, then make him smash some more! Life for a life………

People keep on bringing up the death sentance, but this is impossible. one of the agrements that britain made when joining the european union was to sign up to more or less ban capital punishment. Evry country within the union has to sign to a certain number of fixed rules this being one of them so the death penalty isnt an option.
