New business park opens

A BRAND new business park has opened.

West Station Business Park, off West Station Yard, Spital Road, Maldon has eight light industrial units on the 1.6 acres of land, which all sold out in just two weeks.

And the developer and business man responsible, Robert Lee, thinks this very positive for the "thriving coastal town".

The new park was officially opened by John Whittingdale, MP for Maldon and east Chelmsford, on Friday May 9 with several other community representatives on hand to applaud the project.

He said: "The turnout is indicative of how important this is. It is very good news for Maldon.

"It is fantastic to have achieved this and I have no doubt it will be a great success."

Work began on the land about 12 months ago which had previously lain fallow for many years.

Robert Lee, who bought the site from James Mann to develop and now uses the largest unit as his headquarters, said: "It has gone very well and has provided some very much needed business premises for light industrial business.

"The original reason for the development was to find a headquarters and then my partner wanted new premises so we developed this.

"We are very happy with the result. They are all sold and completed in two weeks which is a very good sign for this thriving coastal town with a lot of good successful businesses."

James Mann said: "I think it is an excellent development, a credit to Robert Lee and an asset to Maldon."

These sentiments were echoed by the leader of Maldon District Council Alan Cheshire.

He said: "I think it is a good development and great for Maldon. It provides for business and I like them."
