Four burglaries in one Maldon road
A HUGE number of crime reports has this week flooded into police in and around the Maldon district.
Crime reduction officer Ray Stannard said officers are particularly concerned about four burglaries which took place on Friday April 25 at neighbouring bungalows in St Giles' Crescent, Maldon, between 1.30pm and 3pm.
Mr Stannard said in one case two men entered the home of an 81-year-old man claiming to be from the water board.
They searched the bedrooms but when the man's wife returned home they made off empty handed.
One of the culprits was a white man with ginger hair, aged between 40 and 45 years old, 5ft 6ins tall, with a medium build.
He was wearing a blue hat with white beading, a dark blue lightweight zip-up jacket, blue jeans, white trainers and dark woollen gloves.
His accomplice was a white man, between 20 and 25 years old, 5ft 6ins tall and slim.
He had a pale complexion with sunken cheeks and was wearing the same clothing as his companion.
Both men spoke with Irish accents.
Mr Stannard said two men also entered the property next door through an insecure rear door.
They again claimed to be from the water board and asked the 74-year-old female resident to turn the bathroom taps anti-clockwise.
The pair made off with £250 in cash.
Officers have been given virtually the same description as in the previous burglary.
Just a couple of doors away, the front door of a bungalow was forced open and £50 cash was taken.
And, next door, someone forced their way into the property, causing £200 of damage, but are not thought to have stolen anything.

It is obvious (and statistically proven) that Maldon has year in year out a very low level of crime. But every now and then some nasties will come for a visit and target the elderly and vulnerable. Not nice, needs to be stopped but entirely predictable.

Predictable in the obvious way that some criminals have always travelled around the country preying on the vulnerable (and the vulnerable are often elderly and living in safe areas like Maldon). Is this simple enough for you now?

Oops, my mistake Jack, you're opinionated and make sweeping judgements that seem to belittle the victims of crime(rape and burglary so far) yet you don't understand sarcasm.
