The end of an era is captured in these photographs of the Mildmay Ironworks in Burnham.
They were sent in by Derek Argent, who said: “The Booth and Brookes iron foundry started in 1899 at the newly built Mildmay Ironworks, producing a wide range of castings.
“They were best known for the production of piano frames, especially the grand piano frame, and were suppliers to famous piano manufacturers.
“At one time, it was the biggest employer in Burnham. The company finished in 1980. Later it was demolished – the end of a era.”
He added: “Access was by an unmade road called Foundry Lane. Today, the road has been upgraded to a main road for access to the Burnham yacht harbour, the only thing that hasn’t changed is the name.”
