MP Since - 2010 Majority - 5,772 Born - 1966, Married (Angela), 2 children (Tom and Katie).
Education - Loughton School (1977-82), Buckhurst Hill School VI Form (1982-84).

Previous Occupation - Family Printing Business (Romford).

Personal Overview - Small businessman who has had an active involvement in local politics across metropolitan Essex. His campaign for Parliament focused strongly on the need to balance competing demands placed on Essex by development pressure; in equal measure opportunity and blight. Although a local of the London/Essex metropolitan borders he is something of a newcomer to the Basildon/Pitsea area and will therefore need the time afforded by the election result to establish himself fully on a constituency level. In the event of a national Labour revival his Parliamentary base would be at risk and therefore a incumbency loytalty vote may prove a crucial advantage.

Political History - Former Councillor, Epping Forest District Council, Former Cabinet Member for Customer Services, ICT & e-Government, Parliamentary Candidate for Ilford North (2005), Member for Basildon South & East Thurrock (2010-). Member of the Science and Technology Select Committee (2010-).

Characteristics - In his spare time he enjoys amateur dramatics, rugby union and going to the gym. Trustee, Age Concern Basildon. Former School Governor, London comprehensive. Volunteer, East London homeless shelter.
