A historic gem is open for the new season.
Maldon Museum, based in Promenade Park, exhibits mostly items directly related to the district, whether domestic or industrial and portraying different aspects of social history.
This season a refurbished childhood room provides a small play area for younger children.
Also featured is an homage to the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, entitled Lest We Forget, a magnificent old “Pumper” fire engine, an excellent model of the Maldon East railway station (this year marks the 50th anniversary of its closure), and displays relating to Maldon Cinema, Maldon Carnival, and Edward Bright, the fat man of Maldon.
Opening hours are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 2pm- 5pm, and Sundays and bank holidays from 11am-5pm.
During school holidays, the museum will also be open on Tuesdays from 2pm-5pm, with free admission for children.
Normal admission charges are £2 for adults and 50p for children.
