THE Australian Pink Floyd Show fly into the Cliffs Pavilion tonight to recreate the prog-rock legends’ greatest hits.
Described by original Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour as “very, very good indeed”, the tribute act have performed to more than a million people, since forming in Adelaide, in 1988.
Praised for their authentic replication of the sound and stage shows, the band first performed in the UK at a Pink Floyd Fan Convention, 16 years ago. They became the only Pink Floyd tribute act to play for any original member when they performed at David Gilmour’s 50th birthday, in 1996.
Two sell-out dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and an appearance at Glastonbury, has earned the tribute act a reputation as the next best thing to the genuine article.
With the recent death of Floyd’s keyboard player Richard Wright, this may be the closest fans will get to hearing the pioneering sound of the group, in a live arena.
Doors to the venue, in Station Road, Westcliff, open at 8pm. Tickets are £28.50. To book call the box office on 01702 351135.
