Indian music star to kick off multifaith concert series


A SERIES of eight events, forming the Muju Festival, celebrating Muslim and Jewish music, and running throughout July, will launch with a performance from Indian musician Ameen Ali Khan.

Ameen is the son of the celebrated Sarod artist Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan and his grandfather is renowned musician Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan.

Ameen will be performing at the Colchester Arts Centre from 8pm on Saturday, July 4, accompanied by a tabla player.

Music and dance from countries who follow both faiths will take place in Colchester and Wivenhoe throughout the festival.

Tickets for the first concert are available from Colchester Arts Centre on 01206 500 900 in advance, or on the door for £10/£8 concessions.

The Gazette headline writers are clearly challenged. In another story, a publican offering half-price beer is said in the headline to be offering free beer.
Anyway it sounds like an interesting concert.
