THE current chairman of the council believes the council “will be entirely different” as a result of this year's election.
The current Maldon District Council chairman Bob Boyce has taken the decision to stand down.
He will be handing the council over in just under two week’s time to a new chairman.
Ahead of the results, he has shared his predictions as to what the council could look like by the end of the day.
The longstanding councillor believes Liberal Democrats may come out on top.
He said: “I think there’s going to be a massive liberal revival.
“Apart from Paula Spenceley we haven’t had someone liberal on the council for about 27 years.
“I think they will form a large group.
“I think the conservatives, any losses will be from 17 rather than from 12.
“I think they’re going to get a bit of a hounding as they are nationwide.
“I think it will be an entirely different council that I will be handing over on the 18th.”
