THE bosses of a popular carnival have hailed one of its events as a “delightful success”.
Maldon Carnival held its Easter trail event and have now praised it after more than 100 children took part.
The trail ran from March 28 until April 15, and participants had to find Easter bunny letters around Maldon High Street.
Entry forms cost £1 and many children scoured shop windows for elusive clues, according to a spokesman for the carnival.
Eabha Benson, aged five, won first place in the trail, alongside Scarlett, eight, who came in second, while Melissa Harrington was third.
A spokesman said: “The Easter trail organised by Maldon Carnival proved to be a delightful success yet again this year.
“The event was filled with excitement and spirited competition.
“All the winners were presented with their awards by this year's carnival queen and her princesses.
“Congratulations to these bright young minds for their impressive sleuthing skills.”
All money raised from the event went straight to Maldon Carnival.
It relies on money raised from fundraising events, grants and public donations to hold its procession every year.
Last year's carnival was cancelled due to a lack of volunteers and increasing costs.
This year’s carnival will take place on August 3.
